Today Panchang - Daily Hindu Calendar for Your City

A Panchang, also written as Panchangam or Panjika, is the traditional Hindu calendar used to understand the quality and timing of a day. The five main parts are Tithi, Vara, Nakshatra, Yoga and Karana. For practical daily use, people also check Sunrise, Sunset, Rahu Kalam, Yamaganda, Gulika and auspicious timings such as Abhijit Muhurat.

What is today's Tithi?

Today's Tithi is calculated from the angular distance between the Moon and the Sun. A Tithi can end at any time during the day, so the end time matters for vrat, puja and festival observance. This page shows the Tithi prevailing at local sunrise and its next transition time.

What is today's Nakshatra?

Nakshatra is based on the Moon's sidereal longitude. There are 27 Nakshatras, each covering 13 degrees 20 minutes. The active Nakshatra and its ending time are useful for daily astrology, Muhurat selection and religious observances.

Why does Panchang change by city?

The astronomical Tithi and Nakshatra are global calculations, but a Panchang day is anchored to local sunrise. Sunrise, Sunset, Rahu Kalam and other day divisions change with latitude and longitude. That is why the same date should be checked for the correct city.

What is Rahu Kalam today?

Rahu Kalam is an inauspicious daytime period calculated from local Sunrise and Sunset. Its position changes with the weekday. Many people avoid beginning important new work during Rahu Kalam, while routine activities can continue normally.

What is today's Tithi and why does the ending time matter?
