Check Manglik Dosha, also called Mangal Dosha, Kuja Dosha or Sevvai Dosham, from the traditional Lagna, Moon and Venus references. You can also compare two birth charts to see whether their Manglik patterns are broadly balanced for marriage matching.
Lahiri Sidereal - Lagna, Moon & Venus Reference - Traditional Manglik Assessment
| Person / Reference | Mars House | Status | Interpretation |
|---|
This calculator uses Lahiri sidereal astrology. Mars is checked from three traditional reference points - the Ascendant (Lagna), Moon and Venus. If Mars falls in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house from a reference point, that reference is marked Manglik. The result shows exactly which reference creates the indication instead of returning only a yes/no label.
Different traditions give different emphasis, but many modern Vedic calculators examine all three. This makes it possible to distinguish a single-reference indication from a stronger pattern repeated from multiple reference points.
Cancellation rules vary significantly between schools. This tool therefore does not silently erase a Dosha. It only displays selected possible mitigating indicators, such as Mars in its own/exalted sign or a traditional benefic aspect from Jupiter or Venus. A full chart review may reach a different judgement.
Traditional matchmaking often prefers broadly similar Manglik patterns in both charts. This comparison is shown separately from the 36-Guna Ashtakoota score because Mangal Dosha is not part of the 36 Gunas.
Mangal Dosha is also searched as Manglik Dosha, Manglik Dosh, Kuja Dosha, Bhauma Dosha, Chevvai Dosham and Sevvai Dosham. In Bengali it is often called মাঙ্গলিক দোষ. The terminology changes by region, while the central idea is the traditional marriage-related assessment of Mars in selected houses.
This calculator checks Mars in houses 1, 2, 4, 7, 8 and 12 from Lagna, Moon and Venus. Some regional schools omit either the 1st or 2nd house, so results can differ between traditions.
No. Ashtakoota Guna Milan and Mangal Dosha are separate layers of traditional marriage matching. Use the Kundli Matching calculator for the 36-Guna score.
Astrological texts and schools use multiple exception and cancellation rules. This calculator flags selected mitigating indicators but does not treat them as an automatic final cancellation.
Traditional matching often considers similar Manglik strength preferable to a large imbalance, but a complete judgement should use the full charts rather than this one factor alone.
